Ni hao readers,

This afternoon I have completed a kiwi kids news article and answered all the questions. This article was about a one hundred and five year old woman that was a runner in the senior Olympics. What I found challenging was the thinking questions because you're the one who really has to think about what you're going to write.

Persuasive Jamboard

Aloha readers,

This morning I have completed my persuasive jamboard. For this jamboard we had to choose one statement. My statement is a day at the beach is better than a day in the mountains. For this writing activity we had to state a reason then add examples to show what we mean.

I hope you enjoyed my blog.
Please leave some positive feedback.
Ciao.

Performing Elements B.A.S.T.E

Xin chao readers,

Today I have completed my slide show called The Arts Dance/Drama/Music. Every time we completed something to do with dance, music or drama we add them to this slide show. In my slide show I have included the elements of dance and more. I found that I enjoyed formatting and arranging the font, size and images.

B.A.S.T.E is the elements of dance. B.A.S.T.E also stands for body, action, space, time and energy.

I hope you enjoyed my post.
Please leave some positive and helpful feedback.
Have a lovely day. Ciao.

Persuasive Writing - Three For/Against Statements 2

Kia orana readers welcome back to my blog,
Today I am sharing going to be sharing with you my For/Against Statements number two. For this we had a slide show where we had to choose three statements and if we did not agree with the statement we had to change it. Here is my work.

I think… Cats do not make the best pets

Because…  A lot of people are allergic to cats which might make them very sneezy or have a very serious allergic reaction. Cats also sleep a lot and they don’t often want to get active.

My evidence: 1. When someone becomes allergic to cats, what they are actually reacting to is a protein known as Fel d 1, which is in cats’ saliva. 2. Have you ever wondered if all of this sleeping is normal? Cats spend 15-20 hours a day resting or sleeping. (1. Source: Link) (2. Source: Link)

I think… summer is not the best season

Because… in summer there are so many bugs amongst you although in winter you don’t have to worry about bugs swarming you every second of the day. Also if you are someone who has hay fever there's no problem with that in winter but in summer you’ll be sneezing all day long.

My evidence: 1. you’re always worried about getting stung by a wasp or bitten by an insect. Well, the good news for you is that winter has virtually no bugs and insects around. 2. Many plants pollinate based on environmental triggers which is why we have different allergy seasons caused by different plants. Most grasses like to pollinate during the heat, which is why summer is when grass allergies are at their worst. (Source one: Link) (Source two: Link)

Brain Teaser Activity

Persuasive Argument For/Against Statements

Kia orana readers,

This week in Room 9 we have been learning about persuasive writing. For this activity we had a google doc titled For/Against Statements where we had five choices of what three statements we would like to choose and we could swap them around if we disagree with the statement. These five choices are ps4 is better than xbox,  cats are better than dogs, netball is better than basketball, lollies should be allowed at school and 12 year old's should be allowed their license. Click on the links to see an article of where I had gotten my evidence. Here is my persuasive statements.

I think… Dogs are better than cats

Because…dogs are better listeners and you can take them out for walks but with cats they just sleep for nearly the whole day.

My evidence: Many of the dog people will be sure dogs are better listeners. After all, they can understand words. Dogs can learn about one hundred words in the language of their trainer. (Source: Link)

I think…Xbox is better than ps4

Because…although ps4 has a few hundred more games xbox has some of the best games such as really good car games and shooting games. I also find that ps4’s controller is wider and feels a bit odd but with xbox controllers they feel more comfortable and grippy. Xbox also has one of the best quality unlike the ps4 it's a bit blurry.

My evidence: The most clear advantage of purchasing an Xbox One over a PS4 right now is that Microsoft has the most powerful console on the market. While coming down largely to personal preference, the Xbox controller is often cited as a sturdier controller with a better build than Sony’s DualShock brand. (Source: Link)

I think…Lollies should not be allowed at school

Because…Lollies have lots of sugar and they can destroy your teeth.

My evidence: It’s common knowledge that sugar is bad for your teeth. But as science has progressed, one thing is certain — sugar causes tooth decay. (Source:Link)

Ni hao readers,

Today I am back with another blog post. This blog post is about a kangaroo that has escaped from a circus in Germany. For this activity we had to copy and past some questions on the kiwi kids news website onto a google doc. Next we had to write in our answers afterwards we had to write a ten word summary where we got ten words from the article we read and put those words onto our google doc. Here is a link to the website if you would like to check it out. Kiwi Kids News.

Officials from the Circus Alessio said Skippy, the Tasmanian kangaroo, escaped outside the town of St. Georgen.

There is a kangaroo named Skippy who has escaped from a circus in Germany twice in the last week. He has escaped into the woods and the Black Forest and now workers are looking for him.

Skippy escaped from a town in Germany called Bad Duerrheim. Skippy escaped into a forest called the Black Forest which is in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Baden-Württemberg is the state capital of Stuttgart, also Mannheim and Karlsruhe.

4. Tell us when this event happened and explain what might happen in the future.

Skippy escaped from a circus in Germany on Monday the 29th of September. In the future he may run away again and the officials from the circus may keep him locked up to keep him from hopping away again.

I think this event took place because Skippy the kangaroo did not like it at the circus. I think he might have felt threatened and hurt and really wanted to leave.

The Lost Echo in The Woods

Xin chao readers,

This term we have been learning to write narrative stories. The purpose of a narrative is to entertain the reader to get them to keep reading your story. First we had to create a planner on a google doc. Then we had to write in our beginning problem / buildup event which is the middle and our end. We had to include similes, onomatopoeia, dialog, personification, paragraphs and describing words. One of my favourite sentences is Ella could hear the baby reindeer trotting in the crunchy white snow. One thing I think I could improve on is adding less describing words and sentences at the top of my paragraphs.

Thank you for reading my blog post and story. Please leave a comment. Ciao.

Examples of Being Water Safety

Xin chao readers,

This here is our W.A.L.T  which means we are learning to. In my reading group Gryffindor we are learning to use prior knowledge and knowledge gained from texts to learn about water safety. I have learnt that you should never go swimming or diving alone and that if you don't know how to swim you should take a floatie with you. I think next time I could add some more information too. Here is my poster.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it. Have a great day. Ciao.
