SLJ Summer Learning Journey/ Treasure Map Code

Hello welcome back to my blog here is a treasure code I did for the SLJ. I learnt how to wright in a treasure code language thing. It was very fun I might try some again maybe. The most challenging thing was remembering the codes but instead i got a piece of paper and I was writing it down and then when i looked at it for a bit I got use to remembering them. Summer Learning Journey Practice/ Colouring Online

Hello! In Room 11 we have been doing a practice of the Summer Learning Journey. The Summer Learning Journey is basically fun activities to do over the Summer holidays. There is a new activity every day until the Summer holidays are finished. Then we will go back to school and if you have done the most activities over the holidays you might receive a prize. Hello In room ll we did interviews about the school fun run. We had to choose a buddy and record each other about the fun run here are some video's.

Whole School 50 Meter Sprints

Hello. On Thursday we did sprints it was the whole of Hornby Primary School raced against the year and gender girls and boys. The teachers made it that it goes from youngest to oldest races first I'm a year 5 so I  had to wait a while it was so hot I felt like I was in a oven getting cooked. As me and my friend were waiting we were playing game. When it was time for the year 5 girls to race we got ready. We raced I was going so fast I got chest pain but I won the 1st round but I came 2nd in the 2nd round.Then I got a blue teddy bear for coming second in the last round and had to go to the start of the lane then I got a piece of paper that my mum needed to sign and now I get to go to zones.

Nobody Laughed

Hello today in class I read a story Nobody Laughed by Bernard Beckett and the illustrations by Kat Chadwick  its about a boy named Aiden and he goes to a school called North-side primary school and one day at school he noticed that everyone at school had the exact same bag because they all bought it from the same shop. One day when they went for a run for PE and they came back they caretaker had taken the bags all down and put them in a pile so nobody knew what bag was theirs. The caretaker just need to replace some hooks because some of them were old and broken. When they all got back they could not find out what bag was there so the teacher Mr Chalmers said i guess we have to open up the bags to find out who's is who's and Aiden was scared that he will get embarrassed because of whats in his bag his lucky stuff. 

My favourite thing about this book was when the bags got mixed up and Aiden thought he was gonna be embarrassed but he wasn't.

The Flower Festival

 Hello readers in room 11 we have been drawing some flowers we are all drawing these for the flower show coming up.First we copied a flower of our room 11 site and then we tried our best to draw it. How could I improve my drawing ? 

 

Term 3 Holidays

In the holidays I went to castle hills with my sister Casey, my two nieces Jasmine and Naomi  and their dad Mark. I went there with them because I had a sleepover so they took me with them to castle hills. When we were in the car me and my niece Naomi was drawing I was drawing mermaids and trees my niece Naomi was drawing LOL dolls and treasure chests.When we got there Mark me and my nieces to run so my sister and him could have a talk for a little bit.Then we got so puffed we stopped at the rocks on the side and we climbed on them. Naomi was getting bored so she asked her dad if we could play hide and seek and her dad said yes and he also said that we could go as high as we want up the mountain so me and my nieces all climbed very high Mark found me and Jasmine very easily but we could not find Naomi for about 20 minutes and we were searching all around the rocks but we could not find her and my sister Casey was calling out to Naomi.Then my sister asked me and my niece Jasmine to back down the big hill and ask the people down there if they had seen Naomi with and orangie pink jacket, ginger hair.Then me and Jasmine went back down the big hill and when we were walking down there we saw Naomi at the bottom of the hill so I slid down on my bottom because if I walked or ran I would fall over or slip.When I got down the bottom of the hill I said we were looking for you your dad went to the very top to look for you and he called out really loud to you. Naomi said “oh I thought I heard someone calling Naomi '' .I said to Naomi come back up the hill so we can go see your mum and dad”.But Naomi was too scared so i said to her “do you wanna hold by hand so we can go up together”.So me and Naomi went back up the hill to see her mum and dad.And then we went back down and kept walking up towards the other way to the very top as we were walking our legs were getting very saw but we had to keep walking.When we got to the very top my sister took a picture of all of us together and the top.Me and my nieces were scared because it was very high.It was getting so hot so we left we were so tired after all that walking.

I Made A Sale Boat Out Of Sticks

Hello today I made a sale boat it is not the best I could do but it still is good its not fully finished here is a picture of the sale boat I made.

My New Nephew

 KIA Ora yesterday i got to meet my new nephew his name is Wolf my mum took a picture of wolf when he was lying down he burps and moves a lot. Wolf is only 14 days old.

Student Summit

KIA Ora today my class was involved in the student summit.The work shop I really liked was Game froot/mihi maker.I liked game froot because it has Maori and i know my pepeha because my mum is Maori and my mum always says to me "you have a lot of Maori in you".The tool kits i did for the student summit was mihi maker, Easel.ly, STB scratch.if you don't know what the student summit is a student summit is when 2 people make a slide show to tell you about a site and they talk about it and help you through it.

1. session 1 was mihi maker on mihi maker you make your pepeha its an animated game and you make your pepeha and your just talking about your self if your Maori you put English words if you don't know Maori or leave it out.Sometimes it will take a while to load if your at school because a lot of people will be on it to get in it.

2.session 2 was Easel.ly on Easel.ly you can make posters I made a wanted poster.

3.session 3 we did super scratch but it would not let me join the hangout so I don't know about it.and also my Chromebook turned off when I clicked on the link.So instead i did a different one

4. session 4 I did Mihi maker again because thats what it said on the chart.

Blue Box Card

 Hello readers today i will be showing you our Blue box cards in room 11.Blue box cards are card where you get your card colour and you read the text and answer the questions.After that you go back to the blue box and get the answer card to answer your answers.of you got it right you highlight it green if you got it wrong.then you mark it if you got them all right you do 20/20 if you had 20 questions.

Going To The Shop With My Friend.

kumusta on Wednesday I went to the shop with my friend Shikya. First we went to the shop and got a heap of lollies then we walked back to my house.We went inside but Shikya said she was scared of my brothers because my mum was not home yet.But I said to Shikya "Come on you can come inside". So she came inside and we went to my room.After that we went back outside and went to my friends house next door we played on my neighbours trampoline then we went on her monkey bars and played foot tag.well we were playing I asked My neighbour  if she would like some lollies. After that the neighbour  she wanted to come over to my house so I said OK because my mum said if you want your friend Emma to come over.So I said OK.

 Hello readers today i will be showing you my show don't tell writing and a picture about it.

Show , Don’t Tell

I was running through a hot sandy world behind me was a lion roaring with his big long sharp teeth. My heart was beating as fast as someone could ever beat a drum one hundred times over and over again.I could not feel like taking another step.My feet were numb I had sand in my shoes the little pieces of sand felt like tiny pieces of glass underneath my feet.As the lion was roaring he was  getting closer I was trying to sprint faster and faster.As  I was running I nearly stumbled.I noticed as I was running i had my compass in my pocket I checked what way it was pointing it was pointing east but I wanted to get closer to north i'm not sure why though.I was coming up to a stop there in front of me  was a sandstorm my heart kept beating forever and ever.I was starving i got a tingle in my tummy.My face felt like it was in a microwave that's just how hot it felt.I kept getting sand in my eyes but I could not think of an idea that I could do to stop it.

Kawa of Care

 Kumusta in room 11 we have been learning about kawa of care. Kawa of care is treating your device well and not drink or eat around it.

I have made this drawing out of shapes.In this google drawing you can see there is a little girl keeping her food and drink away from her Chromebook.And this is the kawa of care.

Epic reading

Hello readers in class at reading after lunch we do reading on epic. On epic you can read books and some books read to you. You can also go up levels and you get achievements.So you should check this sight out and see what books you would like to read.

Hello here is a slide show of my vocabulary  in room 11.In room 11 we have our vocabulary words every week and we put them on a slide show and do writing also get a pitcher of what the words mean.We have two words every week for our vocabulary.

Scratch Jr-space game

Kumusta everyone.In room 11 we had a visitor named Emma she taught us how to create a game on scratch Jr.we had to delete our sprite that pops up when you get into the game.A sprite is a character.We had to debug our algorithm so mix it up a little.How we made the game was we went on to scratch jr,we got a rocket made the background black so it looked like space then got the little movements and also we got a moon and a planet and made it move with the movements.Here is a video of me playing it.

Play-date at my house

KIA Ora  today my friend Laura came over to my house so we could play together.We went in  my room and played games on our Chromebook then we went back to the living room and ate some fish n chips.After that we went outside and played a cop game.I was the cop and Laura was the robber then she stole something out of my playhouse in the backyard and ran around trying not to get caught.Laura was running and then i got her and took her to my swing set my swing was broken so Laura sat on the swing and pretended she was in jail.

The Present Story

Hello here is the present story we have been writing about in Room 11 i hope you enjoy it. 

In a small house after school in a gloomy dark living room a boy was playing a shooting game BANG, BA, BANG the light of the T.V was flashing in his eyes. Mum came in the house she said “sorry sweetie I got home so late i had to pick up something after work”Mum put down a cardboard box on the coffee table “mum the boy said quietly .the boy looked at the box but he was to engrossed in his video game he did not care about anything else but his .Mum said ”why don’t you let some sun inside”said mum. Why don’t you open the present I got for you” For me” the boy said”. Then mum got a phone call.”Ring ring ring ring”sir i don’t no why you didn't get the papers ". The boy opened the unsealed  cardboard box. It was a puppy ”WHOA COOL!” but  the boy saw that the puppy only had three legs so he threw the small puppy away and said “GET LOST” “you gotta be kidding me” the boy said as he pushed the box off the table. The puppy saw a Rosie red ball under a draw in the living room. The puppy ran with little lightning speed  into the draw and bumped his head but then he went under the draw and grabbed the red shiny ball. The cute little puppy played with the ball and ran up to the boy. The puppy wanted to play a game with the boy.So the puppy ran up to the boy and put the ball down in front of him.The boy picked the red ball up with his little razzer teeth and put it in his pocket.so the got up the puppy saw that the boy only had one leg the puppy looked a bit confused as the boy picked up his crutches so the boy stood up and went outside to play the boy yelled out to his mum and said we’ll be outside so the boy and the puppy went outside and played fetch.

Opening sentence for my story

Hello everyone

W.A.L.T write an interesting first sentence to hook our reader.My first sentence was "one day there was a boy he was playing a video game"  but then i improved it and now my first sentence is."In a small house after school in a gloomy living room a boy was playing a shooting game BANG, BA, BANG the light of the T.V was flashing in his eyes". I think my updated sentence is much more better.

Does my opening sentence hook my readers attention?.
